Lime (calcium) is quickly lost from the soil by leaching with water and chemical action from fertilizers. Some subjects require high pH soils for optimum growing conditions e.g. carnations, sweet peas and brassicas. Apply in high amounts 500g per sq.m. or a layer on a pot to produce a constant stream of "lime" water to control pH.
