Description

Principal use is for pH correction and can be used anywhere, even lawns, where pH is often lowered by fertilizer applications. Rate of use 270g per sq.m. Also known as ground chalk and forms of Calcium Carbonate are found naturally in large deposits in the U.K. It is quarried, crushed and for the garden trade, bagged. Its effectiveness depends to some degree on its fineness, and is used to neutralise acid soils at . to 500gms. Per sq. m. depending upon the type of soil, to increase the pH by 0.5 per unit, i.e. from 6 to 6.5. Calcium is an essential plant food and lime is the cheapest and best way to add this, but it is always worthwhile to check the pH of the soil first.

Also known as ground chalk this is the best known and easiest form of limestone to use. Containing a high % of calcium its principal use is for pH correction and can be used anywhere, even on lawns, where pH is often lowered by frequent fertilizer applications. Rate of use 270g per sq.m.
